Yes. Our swivel chairs use a sealed base that rotates on a bearing inside, so the part touching the floor does not move. A felt pad or thin rug under the base is still a good idea to protect the finish from scratches if the chair is dragged.

The metal bearing is built to last years of daily use. If a squeak ever develops, a small amount of dry silicone spray on the bearing usually resolves it. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they attract dust.
